Where The Rider is a Learner for the class of vehicle hired, The Hirer shall be the Learner Supervisor, and shall ensure that The Rider only rides under Supervision of an appropriately licenced rider, regardless of whether the Learner’s home licencing authority allows learners to ride unsupervised.
Learners must be nominated as The Additional User. Learners will be allocated the smallest capacity available for hire within that vehicle class.
Regardless of the licence status of The Rider, Time on Bikes may require The Rider to demonstrate they are capable of controlling The Bike. This may include:
(a) Performing slow manoeuvres or road riding on The Bike in view of Time on Bikes
(b) Performing slow manoeuvres or road riding on another Bike before riding The Bike
(c) Undertaking hire of another Bike to improve or refresh The Riders skills before hiring The Bike requested. This may include the hire of a naked bike before a fully faired bike is hired.
10 Traffic Laws and Licence Conditions
The Rider must obey all traffic laws relating to the place in which The Bike is used. At all times The Rider shall possess a licence that is valid and not cancelled or suspended. The Rider must only ride The Bike if it is permitted under the class and any additional conditions of their licence. This includes:
(a) The display of L or P plates as appropriate. Time on Bikes recommends a “soft” plate stitched, velcroed, tied, or even stapled to a Motorcycle Jacket or a vest worn over the jacket.
(b) Meeting all supervision requirements of Learner’s permits.
(c) Not carry pillion passengers unless The Bike has dual seat registration AND The Rider has held a licence for the vehicle class of The Bike for the required period of time.
(d) Any other condition of the licence
11 Bike Swap amongst groups of associates.
Where The Rider swaps The Bike for another Time on Bikes owned vehicle, The Rider takes all obligations for The Bike being controlled by The Rider at the time of any incident. Swaps without Time on Bikes explicit consent are only permitted amongst a group of associates each hiring a bike concurrently.
12 Bike Exchange
If The Hirer wishes to change bikes within the period of hire, The Hirer may return the bike to Time on Bikes and exchange it for a different bike. No charge will be applied for the change in bike. Where the two bikes have a different hire rate or included kilometres, the hire will have a pro rata adjustment applied.
13 Location/limits of range
The Rider shall not take The Bike to any point more than 400km from Time on Bikes without explicit permission of Time on Bikes. Time on Bikes, after discussion of the intended location and route with The Hirer, will not unreasonably withhold such permission.
